Production Context

  • 15-weeks student production at the Campus ADN
  • The narrative team was composed of four people:
    • A teacher with professional experience : Maxime Archetto 
    • Two narrative design students : Karina Bermudez and myself
    • A narrative tech designer : Jonathan Morin
  • The narrative bible was written in two weeks
  • The scenario development was carried out in parallel with the design of the levels and the implementation of the functionalities

Narrative design

Narrative constraints : 

  • Only two animated characters
  • The player’s actions must have narrative consequences 
  • Two different endings
  • Create narrative linearity even though the levels can be played in random order

Narrative Design :

  • Designing the main objective of the game
  • Writing the narrative bible and creating the world
  • Creating the characters and their development
  • Creating a timeline
  • Establish scene functions
  • Designing narrative systems 
  • Designing a sign and feedback matrix for narrative systems
  • Communicate with the different departments for the integration of the narration

    • NPC
    • Narrative Collectibles 
  • Giving a choice in all dialogues
  • The avatar’s personality must be malleable to allow the player to adapt it.
  • Narrative structure inspired by myths and legend
